Looking to see if "Stars In My Crown" is PD.
Stars in my crown (1950)

Date of Recordation: 2003-04-28
Entire Copyright Document: V3492 D133-215 P1-891

The movie was renewed in 2003, but had to be renewed by 1978 to be valid. So is this PD?

This movie was renewed in 1977 so it doesn't come up in the online copyright database.

This is one of the movies that was renewed under the old ("anniversary year window") system. Up until the copyright changes that came into effect in 1978 movies had to be renewed between the 27th and 28th anniversary of their registration date. In 1978 this was changed to any time during the calendar year of the 28th anniversary. For the transitional copyright year, any film published with a 1950 copyright notice could be renewed in either "window" - aniversary or calendar. This meant that 1950 movies had up to a 2 year window for renewal - between the registration anniversary in 1977 and 31 Dec 1978.
